Rabbi Lau was flown to New York especially to accompany the American olim. In a short ceremony at the New York airport, Rabbi Lau gave the group of immigrants his blessing and said that Aliyah is a national treasure at any time; however, at this time period, in which we commemorate the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem and ahead of the implementation of the Disengagement Plan, the group's immigration is a morale booster and a shot of encouragement for Israeli society.
