Tuesday night, the first candle of Chanukah, there will be
a Dreidel Spin Event on the Virtual Chanukah Party on Facebook. Tuesday night's Driedel Spin event is being sponsored by me ( Jacob Richman). Check out my free Learn Hebrew with Phrases site at: www.in-hebrew.co.il There are 54 topics (including Chanukah) with 1,211 Hebrew phrases and sentences. In addition to the online audio flash, the site includes 152 printable study sheets. Here is how the Dreidel Spin works: On Facebook, join the Virtual Chanuka Party event at http://www.facebook.com/events/176798015743962/ 1. On December 20 at 11:00pm Israel time, I will post on the event wall the official start of the first Dreidel Spin. 2. Simply press the comment link of my message and post the letter you think the dreidel will stop on and the dreidel spinning time The letters to choose from: Nun, Gimel, Hey, Pey (sorry, no Shin - make aliyah!) The time should be in the format: mm:ss For example: Nun - 1:25 would be that the dreidel spins 1 minute 25 seconds and lands with the letter Nun on top. Rules: - 1 post per person per game - If you post more than once in a game your posts of that game will be disqualified / deleted. - Like "The Price is Right" game show, the person getting closest to the time without going over (and getting the right letter) Wins! For example : Bob's comment: Nun - 1:04 Susan's comment: Nun - 1:05 Moshe's comment: Nun - 1:15 Alice's comment: Nun - 1:16 If the spin is Nun 1:14 Susan wins (closest without going over) - The comment posting / guessing will be for 15 minutes - Please do not post any Chanukah photos, videos or extra comments on the event wall during a Dreidel game. I will delete them. I will post the game countdown / status during the 15 minutes. - After 15 minutes, I will comment that the posting time window is closed and no other comments will be allowed for that game. - I will spin the dreidel in the apartment in Ma'ale Adumim, Israel. Witnesses in the area are welcome. - The drediel must spin at least 15 seconds to be considered a valid spin. - Within a few minutes of the end of the spin, the results will be posted on the event wall. The person that comes closest to the results (without going over) will win. To protect the house, up to 10 people can win each game. This means that if 10 people guess the letter and exact time they all win the prize. Not a divided prize - the full prize each. If there are more than 10 winners, the first 10 poster winners will be selected. As of this writing, there are currently 201 people signed up to the event. If everyone plays, the odds of 10 people picking the right letter and exact time are very small the first round. However, the house will be playing 4 games and the house (me) does not want to go bankrupt after 1 game. During the next 3 games the partiers may get wiser and zero in on the dreidel time frame. - The prize for each winner will be 18 Israeli Shekels to be sent to the winner's paypal account. Winners will notify me (jrichman@jr.co.il) which email to send the money to. The winners may request another currency equal to 18 shekels. Emails will not be used for anything else. During the 60 minutes, there will be 4 games. The first game starts at 11:00pm (Israel time) and the next game will start a few minutes after the winners are announced from the last game. There are no strings attached. The purpose of the game is to have some Chanukah fun in a virtual holiday atmosphere. The prize money on the first night is sponsored by me.
