This is Leibowitz's second medal at the 2004 games, following her silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle competition. Leibowitz previously won a gold medal at the 2000 games in Sydney. Itzhak Mamistalov finished the 200-meter freestyle in 5:37.43 minutes. While he took first place in the men's 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday, Wednesday's race was more difficult, as Mamistalov was competing alongside athletes with a lower level of disability. Mamistalov's win on Tuesday was Israel's first gold medal at the 2004 games. Israeli sailing team Dror Cohen, Arnon Ephrati and Benny Kessler are in first place after finishing fourth in the in the seventh leg and first in the eighth leg of the nine-race competition. The final race is scheduled for Thursday.
