Israel marks Hebrew Language Day every year on the
birthday of Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the father of modern
spoken Hebrew. This year, the Hebrew date (21 of Tevet)
falls on January 18, 2020 (Shabbat).
Celebrations and activities throughout Israel will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2020.

In Honor of Hebrew Language Day and to encourage Israelis to use Hebrew words instead of English ones, the Academy of the Hebrew Language, together with Tnuva, printed new, lesser-known, Hebrew words on the side of milk cartons.
