Israel marks Hebrew Language Day every year on the
birthday of Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the father of modern
spoken Hebrew. This year, the Hebrew date (21 of Tevet)
falls on Shabbat - January 14, 2023.
The activties for Hebrew Language Day will take
place 2 days earlier on January 12, 2023.
The Academy of the Hebrew Language has
online activities for the Hebrew Language Day.
In Honor of Hebrew Language Day and to encourage Israelis to use Hebrew words instead of English ones, the Academy of the Hebrew Language, together with Tnuva, printed new, lesser-known, Hebrew words on the side of milk cartons.
